Preservation of Oriental Jain Manuscripts in Rajasthan: A Study

Abstract



Preservation of Jain manuscripts is a very old tradition originated from Jain temple library concept of Jainism. There are numerous amount of literature is saved in Jain temple libraries and bhandars. Rajasthan is one of the rich states for the preservation of oriental Jain manuscripts as a knowledge content and religious importance. This study examines the Rajasthan Jain temple libraries and Jain shastra bhandars, their collections, places, types of manuscripts, RORI’s collection and preservation policy of Jain manuscripts in Bikaner branch, translations of manuscripts work, publications of catalogue etc.
