Use of Electronic Databases in University Library: An Evaluative Study
Abstract
The present study aims to determine the purpose of the use of electronic databases, their usage level, users’ satisfaction level and problems in accessing the electronic databasesin University library. A survey was conducted of the faculty members and post graduate students and their responses were analyzed using various statistical techniques. On the basis of this analysis, the study revealed that electronic databases such as EBSCO, Springer-Link, ASCE, ASME, IEL, and WESTLAWare mostly used by the faculty members and P.G. students.The findings concluded that there is a need for user education and Information Literacy Programs to optimize the usage of the available databases at University.
