Impact of E-resources on Library Services and possible future effect on Library Infrastructure: A Case Study

Abstract

Investigate the impact of the e-resources on traditional library services and predicts the probable future effects on the infrastructure of academic libraries with special reference to the Academic libraries of Lucknow.To know the perceptions of librarians and other library staff of ten academic institutes were collected through the questionnaire survey and personal interviews. Arrives at some valuable and interesting findings with recommendations for the libraries attached to academic institutions to promote the most promising and modified collection and services in future tailored to the needs of their respective clientele. In finding of the study researcher find that,the Librarians of most of the academic libraries are in favour of delivering e-resources and services which changed the perceptions of contemporary users of academic libraries. E-resources have a great impact on all services such Circulation, Inter-Library Loan, Users Awareness, Bindery, Internet, Membership, Database Search, Bibliographic, Photocopying and Reference Services in any academic library, the study asserts.
