Content Analysis of selected library websites in Karnataka and New York with special reference to Web 2.0: A comparative study

Abstract


This paper provides a comparative study of content analysis of selected library websites in Karnataka and New York. Importance of websites for libraries in promoting and disseminating information is examined at the outset. Applications of Web 2.0 as pivotal tools in making the library websites more effective are discussed. Increasing use of Web 2.0 applications in library websites has been enabling libraries to provide best services. Blogs, RSS (Really Simple Syndication), Instant Messaging (IM), Social networking sites (SNS), Wikis and Podcasts/Vodcasts applications have greater influence on library professionals in terms of online information services. The paper records how effectively the applications of Web 2.0 may be used for library services. The findings in this article are helpful for libraries to develop, organize and maintain innovative and effective library websites.
