Cloud Computing in Libraries: Special Reference to India

Abstract



In this modern era, numbers of libraries have already applied information and communication technology (ICT). As a result more and more libraries are getting automated and build their own repositories. But to fulfill the above mentioned purpose, lots of financial resources are required to purchase Servers, Computers, System Softwares and Application Softwares etc. To make library present at web, web spaces are required as well as web hostage charges are charged. In routine, libraries subscribe e-resources and print resources to the cater need of users, but users’ wish for a single search button to attain the required information. Keeping users’ point of view, libraries need to install discovery tool on their respective website which again require financial resources. So, this paper shows that how one can cut the cost of all these financial activities through cloud computing and also the initiatives taken in this regard in India by National Informatics Centre, New Delhi.
