Impact of User Characteristics in the Intention to Use the Library: An SEM Approach.

Abstract


Efforts to maintain relevance in current global information landscape has placed the libraries on the edge, consequently, studies aimed at improving library services have ensued from various contexts. This study examined personal characteristics such as attitude, trust and satisfaction that is capable to predict users’ intention towards the library, also how the variables influence themselves towards developing intentions. In a survey of 242 users with questionnaire in a convenience sampling technique, a Partial Least Square SEM result revealed that attitude, and satisfaction had positive and significant impact on intention. This result has an implication for library management to consider the impacts of personal characteristics while developing library programme and services.
