Bibliometric analysis of the North Orissa University’s research output indexed in Scopus during 2008-2012

Abstract


The North Orissa University (NOU) is a public and open university located in the regional city of Baripada in the state of Odisha, India, it was established in July 1998. The basic objectivity of the university is to impart higher education in the Tribal base area of Northern Odisha. It provides study and research through 17 disciplines of science and Technology, Humanities, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Linguistics etc. The basic aim of the study is to focuses the ongoing research by the researchers of the university which has been indexed in Scopus during 2008 to 2012, their collaboration with foreign researchers or researchers of national repute. The study also identifies the annual growth of university publication, authorship pattern, author’s productivity, degree of collaboration, length of paper published, most prolific contributor, prolific institution/ organization, favoured research area etc. Bradford’s law is used to determine scattering of literature in the publication pattern of the university during the period under study.
