Awareness of Open Source software/products among the Students: A case study

Abstract

The study deals with the level of awareness on open source softwares among the students of engineering disciplines. A web-based questionnaire was used to collect the opinion of the students. Chi-square and percentile tests were applied to validate and draw the conclusion for the present work. Most of the students claimed that they are aware of open source softwares and some of them have used and installed open source softwares for project and research purposes. Such a study will bring out a major change in the minds of students at a large.
