Impact of Electronic Books on Education

Abstract


Electronic Books (eBooks) are electronic forms of printed books. eBooks are texts that have been “published” in a digital format that needs specialized reading devices or computers for using or reading. During this decade, their growth and popularity has gone up drastically particularly in the filed of Education. Recent UK Survey results shows that there will be high growth in eBooks over the next year. It was also found that three-quarters of academic libraries and half of public libraries in the UK intend to increase their collections of eBooks over the next year, in spite of the current fiscal climate. This paper proves an overview of ebooks including their evolution, characteristics, types, functions, copyright issues, advantages and disadvantages for educations, and impact on education
