Information Literacy Perception: A Study of Bioscience Students of Kuvempu University

Abstract


Study mainly deals with the information literacy competency among the P.G. students of Bioscience. For assessing the same 160 questionnaire were distributed to the P.G. students of Bioscience, out of which 147 have been received and then data has been tabulated and analyzed systematically. The result of the study shows that 53.74% of the students are able to differentiate between primary and secondary information sources, fairly good number of students chosen the right option in connection to the internet and search engines (34.69%), author search (95.91%), subject search (65.98%), Boolean operator (68.02%), truncation (31.97%), advanced search (76.87%), Refine search strategy (54.42%) and evaluation of internet resources (27.71%).
